Every Polish public holiday of 2027 with weekdays, a leave-bridge table (4 days of leave = 9 days off) and trip ideas for each long weekend.

In 2027 Poland has 14 public holidays, but only eight of them fall on working days. Two (1 May and 25 December) land on a Saturday, and four (Easter Sunday, Pentecost, 15 August and the second day of Christmas) on a Sunday. That makes five natural long weekends and several very efficient leave bridges. Below you will find the holiday calendar, a “how much leave, how much time off” table and concrete trip ideas for each date.
We checked the dates and weekdays against a calendar. Easter in 2027 falls on 28 March, and the other moveable feasts follow from it: Pentecost on 16 May and Corpus Christi on 27 May.
| Date | Day | Holiday | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 January | Friday | New Year’s Day | weekend of 1–3 January |
| 6 January | Wednesday | Epiphany (Three Kings’ Day) | a midweek day: bridge on 4–5 and 7–8 January |
| 28 March | Sunday | Easter Sunday | no extra day off |
| 29 March | Monday | Easter Monday | weekend of 27–29 March |
| 1 May | Saturday | Labour Day | a day off in lieu from the employer |
| 3 May | Monday | Constitution Day | weekend of 1–3 May |
| 16 May | Sunday | Pentecost Sunday | no extra day off |
| 27 May | Thursday | Corpus Christi | bridge: Friday 28 May |
| 15 August | Sunday | Assumption and Armed Forces Day | no extra day off |
| 1 November | Monday | All Saints’ Day | weekend of 30 October – 1 November |
| 11 November | Thursday | Independence Day | bridge: Friday 12 November |
| 24 December | Friday | Christmas Eve | weekend of 24–26 December |
| 25 December | Saturday | Christmas Day | a day off in lieu from the employer |
| 26 December | Sunday | Second day of Christmas | no extra day off |
Three things are worth remembering. First, 15 August falls on a Sunday, so there is no August long weekend in 2027. Second, a holiday on a Sunday gives no day off in lieu. Third, a holiday on a Saturday does, but the employer decides when.
Saturday. For 1 May and 25 December 2027 the employer must give another day off within the settlement period in which the holiday falls. It is not annual leave, so it does not use up your days. The employer sets the date: it could be Friday 30 April, but it does not have to be. Ask HR before you book accommodation and treat the extra day as a bonus, not a certainty. The rule applies to employees under an employment contract.
Christmas Eve. Since 2025, 24 December has been a public holiday. In 2027 it is a Friday, so together with the weekend it gives three days. Because 25 December is a Saturday, employees get an extra day in lieu, which is easiest to use by stretching Christmas towards New Year.
The table shows where to start planning your leave. Leave days are working days you put on the request form, and the result is the whole break from the first to the last day off.
| Period | Days | Leave to take | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Year | 1–3 Jan, Fri–Sun | 0 | 3 days off |
| New Year + Epiphany | 1–6 Jan, Fri–Wed | 2 (4–5 Jan) | 6 days off |
| New Year + Epiphany | 1–10 Jan, Fri–Sun | 4 (4–5 and 7–8 Jan) | 10 days off |
| Easter | 27–29 Mar, Sat–Mon | 0 | 3 days off |
| Easter | 26–29 Mar, Fri–Mon | 1 (26 Mar) | 4 days off |
| Easter | 20–29 Mar, Sat–Mon | 5 (22–26 Mar) | 10 days off |
| Majówka (the May 1–3 break) | 1–3 May, Sat–Mon | 0 | 3 days off, 4 if the employer sets 30 April as the day for Saturday 1 May |
| Majówka | 1–9 May, Sat–Sun | 4 (4–7 May) | 9 days off, 10 with 30 April |
| Corpus Christi | 27–30 May, Thu–Sun | 1 (28 May) | 4 days off |
| Corpus Christi | 22–30 May, Sat–Sun | 4 (24–26 and 28 May) | 9 days off |
| 15 August | 14–15 Aug, Sat–Sun | 0 | an ordinary weekend: a holiday on Sunday gives no day off |
| All Saints | 30 Oct – 1 Nov, Sat–Mon | 0 | 3 days off |
| All Saints | 30 Oct – 7 Nov, Sat–Sun | 4 (2–5 Nov) | 9 days off |
| 11 November | 11–14 Nov, Thu–Sun | 1 (12 Nov) | 4 days off |
| All of November | 30 Oct – 14 Nov, Sat–Sun | 8 (2–5, 8–10 and 12 Nov) | 16 days off |
| Christmas | 24–26 Dec, Fri–Sun | 0 | 3 days off, plus a day in lieu for Saturday 25 December |
| Christmas and New Year’s Eve | 24 Dec – 2 Jan, Fri–Sun | 5 (27–31 Dec) | 10 days off |
| Christmas and New Year’s Eve | 18 Dec – 2 Jan, Sat–Sun | 9 (20–23 and 27–31 Dec) | 16 days off |
Four windows give the best ratio of leave to time off: 6 days for 2 in January, and 4 days for 1 at Easter, Corpus Christi and 11 November. If you only have a few days to spare, start with these. The biggest gains are 16 days off in November for 8 days of leave, and 10 days around Easter and Christmas for 5 days of leave.
With two or four days of leave you have the right amount of time for Zakopane. Stroll along Krupówki, ride up Gubałówka (the 1938 funicular climbs 299 m in 3.5 minutes) or take the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch from Kuźnice. If you are travelling with children, see our post on winter holidays 2027, which has dates and more ideas.
For four days, a city explored on foot works best. The Old Town of Toruń (UNESCO) has a Town Hall with a viewing tower, the Leaning Tower and walls above the Vistula, and in the Toruń Gingerbread Museum you bake a gingerbread yourself. Another option is Zamość, the Renaissance “ideal city” of 1580, or Sandomierz on the Vistula. On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday shops are closed and attractions often keep shorter hours, so check opening times.
For three or four days, choose Lesser Poland or the Lublin region. The Market Square in Kazimierz Dolny, with the Renaissance Przybyło houses of 1615 and the statue of Werniks the dog, and Kazimierz Dolny Castle make a classic few days away. From Kraków you can easily reach Ojców National Park, the smallest national park in Poland (free entry to the park), with the ruins of Ojców Castle.
If you take four days of leave and get nine days off, go further: to Bieszczady National Park with the Caryńska and Wetlińska highland meadows, to the Biebrza (the largest national park in Poland) or to the sea, to Słowiński National Park with its moving dunes. Majówka is a peak time on the roads and for accommodation, so book well ahead.
This is the best date for the Pieniny, because the rafting season runs from 1 April to 31 October. A raft trip down the Dunajec goes through the Pieniny Gorge (18 km to Szczawnica), and Trzy Korony (982 m) gives a view of the gorge and the Tatras. The other direction is Roztocze: Roztocze National Park with the Echo Ponds and Polish ponies, and the Szumy rapids on the Tanew with 24 rock steps.
The August holiday on a Sunday gives no longer break, and the Saturday and Sunday are peak summer traffic. If you go anyway, choose the Hel Peninsula tip with the Kashubian Mound and the Hel Seal Sanctuary or the Sopot Pier (511.5 m). Book trains and accommodation early.
On All Saints many Poles visit family graves, so roads and stations are packed. If you travel instead, choose sightseeing under a roof: the Wieliczka Salt Mine (a 3.5 km route down to 135 m) or Rakowicki Cemetery in Kraków, the city’s oldest necropolis, with the graves of Matejko and Szymborska. For 11 November, choose Poznań: the Old Market Square with the goats butting heads at noon and Ostrów Tumski with the oldest cathedral in Poland. Poznań traditionally eats St Martin’s croissants (rogale świętomarcińskie) on this day. Alternatives are the Old Town of Lublin or the Market Square in Wrocław and the UNESCO-listed Centennial Hall.
Christmas Eve is spent at home, but 27–31 December are good days for a short break. Choose a city with a market square where Christmas markets are usually held: the Main Square in Kraków, the Market Square in Wrocław or Długa Street and Długi Targ in Gdańsk. Organisers announce the dates of the markets, and on Christmas Eve and the holidays many attractions are closed, so check opening hours before you go. For a winter walk, Śnieżka, the highest peak of the Karkonosze (1,603 m), also fits.
Without leave you have three days, from Saturday 1 May to Monday 3 May. If your employer sets Friday 30 April as the day off for the Saturday holiday, that makes four. Four days of leave (4–7 May) give you nine days off, from 1 to 9 May, or ten with 30 April.
Yes. Since 2025 Christmas Eve has been a public holiday (act of 6 December 2024). In 2027 it falls on a Friday, so you have a weekend from 24 to 26 December. Because 25 December is a Saturday, employees are also owed another day off in lieu.
May and November, with two each. In May they are majówka (1–3 May) and Corpus Christi (27–30 May, with one day of leave); in November, All Saints (30 October – 1 November) and 11 November (11–14 November, with one day of leave). January, March and December have one each. In August, 15 August falls on a Sunday, so there is no long weekend.
You get a day off in lieu. Under Article 130 § 2 of the Polish Labour Code, every holiday in the settlement period that does not fall on a Sunday reduces working time by 8 hours. In 2027 this applies to 1 May and 25 December. The employer chooses the day, it is not annual leave and it does not reduce your leave allowance. It applies to people employed under an employment contract.
Trading is banned on public holidays and on most Sundays. In 2027 the trading Sundays are 31 January, 21 March, 25 April, 27 June, 29 August and 5, 12 and 19 December. Media report that since 2025 Christmas Eve has been a full trading ban rather than closing at 14:00. Shop a day earlier, and check opening hours of attractions before you set out.
School holiday dates differ by voivodeship, so we do not list them here. They are collected, together with ideas for trips with children, in a separate post: winter holidays in Poland 2027 with kids.
