Pogoria Lakes in Dąbrowa Górnicza

Pogoria is a group of artificial reservoirs in Dąbrowa Górnicza, created in former sand pits that supplied backfill for coal mines. Pogoria III has the strongest recreational character: its beach, water sports, walking routes and cycling attract visitors. The individual reservoirs have different roles and are not one uniformly developed attraction.

Pogoria III and leisure

The Centre for Summer and Water Sports operates by Pogoria III, and the city designates seasonal bathing areas. In 2026, the sanitary service also published current water-quality information for Pogoria III. Swimming, sunbathing, walking, kayaking and sailing are possible where facilities and rules allow; services depend on the season.

Different sides of the reservoirs

Pogoria I, II, III and IV differ in size, facilities and character. The Polish Angling Association publishes information for the Pogoria III fishing ground, so anglers should check current permits and regulations. Quieter sections are better for observing birds and the post-industrial landscape.

Practical tips

On warm weekends the Pogoria area fills quickly. Choose a specific reservoir and check access, parking, bathing rules and current water conditions before travelling. Do not treat every shore as a beach or every reservoir as suitable for swimming. Cycling can link several areas, but the route and surface depend on the chosen variant.
