Kuroń Park and Mini Zoo in Sosnowiec

In the eastern part of Sosnowiec, in the Kazimierz Górniczy district between Jasieńskiego and Armii Krajowej streets, lies Kuroń Park, formerly known as the Leśna centre. Its alleys and footbridges were built decades ago by miners of the Kazimierz-Juliusz coal mine, and after revitalisation the park became one of the city's most visited green areas. Entry is free and the grounds are open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Mini zoo and the Leśna pond

The biggest draw for families is the free mini zoo, home to roe deer, donkeys, a kangaroo, goats, sheep and birds. The animals are used to visitors and walk up to the fence, which younger guests find delightful. A few steps away lies the Leśna pond; frogs can be heard by the water, while squirrels and hedgehogs slip between the trees — one hedgehog home is even marked with a small sign. A brine graduation tower also stands on the park grounds.

Active all year round

Beyond walks, the park offers a large playground, a skatepark and a lift on the local hill, while evenly laid-out alleys suit bikes and rollerblades. The stand is dominated by alders, birches, hornbeams, oaks and limes, so the paths stay well shaded in summer. Free parking and food outlets await on site.
