GEOsfera in Jaworzno

GEOsfera is the Ecological and Geological Education Centre in Jaworzno, arranged in the disused Sadowa Góra quarry. It combines an educational park, sensory garden and recreation area. The former quarry walls expose Triassic rocks more than 200 million years old, while the site shows how nature can return to land shaped by limestone and dolomite mining. It is a good choice for a family walk and an outdoor introduction to geology.

What to see

Paths and educational trails lead past boards about geology, plants and environmental change. The site includes models of dinosaurs and fossil reptiles, rock and fossil collections, a sensory garden and quarry-wall exposures. Families can also use the playground, amphitheatre and fire-pit areas. The centre hosts educational activities and events, so the programme may change.

Families and accessibility

Entry to GEOsfera is free. The site is lit and accessible without time restrictions, but visitors should still follow safety rules and on-site signs after dark. There is an accessible toilet, and descriptions of the sensory garden’s plant collections are also provided in Braille. No cycling trail runs through the centre itself; bicycles can be left in designated places.

Getting there

GEOsfera is at 100 Św. Wojciecha Street in Jaworzno. Take PKM Jaworzno bus 304 to the GEOsfera stop. Parking spaces are available near the centre, but current parking rules may change. Allow 1–2 hours for a walk and the educational features, and check city notices or the activity programme before visiting.
