Castles
Książ Castle rises above the Pełcznica valley on a rocky promontory. Its interiors, terraces, gardens and nearby underground route form a substantial visit rather than a short photo stop. It is one of the strongest Tripto cards for travellers looking for a historic residence and a full day in Lower Silesia.
Plan the castle interiors and terraces first, then add the underground route, the Palm House or selected attractions in the Explore Wałbrzych ticket. Inside, look for the scale of the representative rooms and the traces of successive reconstructions. Outside, walk along the terraces and look back at the castle from the valley.
The residence was connected for centuries with the Hochberg family. It was extensively rebuilt in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and its last great hostess was Princess Daisy. Wartime construction works and the stories of hidden treasures belong to the castle history and research context; legends should not be presented as confirmed discoveries.
From April to September the castle interiors are open 09:00–18:00 on weekdays and 09:00–19:00 at weekends. An audioguide castle ticket includes the terraces, while combined tickets cover additional sites. Allow at least two hours with children and longer for a full-day route. Buying online is the safest way to plan a busy date.
