In the heart of Ojców National Park, in the Prądnik Valley below the well-known Jonaszówka viewpoint, runs Pstrąg Ojcowski — a trout farm and eatery serving fish from its own ponds. It is only a 10-minute walk from the car park below the castle in Ojców, and a meal accompanied by water, forest and rocks is part of the experience.
The water in the ponds comes from the Młynówka stream — well oxygenated and crystal clear, resembling a mountain creek. This is the natural habitat of trout, which is why the fish reach the table fresh, never frozen. They are smoked naturally on beech wood or baked in foil with onion and herbs.
Trout is served in a simple form, without fries: with local bread and pickles — cabbage, peppers and cucumbers — and lately also with potatoes and dumplings. Guests have covered shelters with tables at their disposal, deckchairs by the pond and a boat to take out on the water.
Pstrąg Ojcowski is registered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as a traditional product of Małopolska, and the farm belongs to the European Regional Culinary Heritage Network. The place is also part of the Lesser Poland Wine Trail: wine from the jurassic Goja vineyard is served here, and on the last weekend of June a wine picnic takes place — its 10th edition is planned for 2026.
