The Spring of Love in Ojców

In the Prądnik Valley, just behind the Kraków Gate, a spring flows from the rock. At the bottom of its basin you can spot a small stone heart — hence the name, the Spring of Love. According to local legend, a couple who drink from it together will remain bound by great affection for the rest of their lives.

The heart of Ojców National Park

The spring lies along the main paved trail of Ojców National Park, established in 1956 as the smallest national park in Poland — it covers just 21.46 km² and its symbol is the bat. The red Eagle Nests Trail passes nearby. Benches by the spring and horse-drawn carriages in the season invite a longer stop, and the flat surface makes the route accessible to families with prams.

What to visit nearby

A stop at the spring combines easily with the two best-known caves of the Jura: Jaskinia Ciemna and the Łokietek Grotto. It is also worth seeing the ruins of the medieval castle in Ojców and the late-Renaissance castle in Pieskowa Skała, 6.5 km away.

Practical information

Entrance to the park at the spring is free and the area is accessible all year round. On hot days the gorge offers coolness and shade, while in winter the Prądnik Valley can be walked far from the crowds. The most convenient option is to leave your car at the Ojców car park and continue on foot.
