Sąspowska Valley

The Sąspowska Valley is a quiet, almost undeveloped branch of the Prądnik Valley in Ojców National Park. The Sąspówka flows through it, the park’s only permanent tributary of the Prądnik, while wooded slopes hide limestone rocks and caves.

The Sąspówka and Jurassic nature

The yellow Jurassic Valleys Trail runs along the valley floor. Along the way you will see meadows, fissure-karst springs, wooded slopes and limestone formations. Caves in the slopes are not generally open to visitors, so do not try to enter them. The valley is part of Ojców National Park; its appeal lies mainly in the natural scenery, stream and quiet atmosphere rather than a concentration of individual attractions.

The route through the valley

The simplest way to visit is to follow the marked yellow trail beside the Sąspówka. The section from the park boundary at Sąspów to the valley mouth in Ojców is about 3.9 km within the national park. You can link it with the green trail via Złota Góra or continue into the Prądnik Valley. At the valley mouth, Jonaszówka is worth the short climb for its view over the Ojców area.

Practical information

Ojców National Park is free to enter, but nature-protection rules apply: stay on marked trails and respect closed ravines and strict-protection areas. Convenient starts are possible from Ojców or the Złota Góra car park; parking may be paid and depends on the location. Allow about 1.5–2 hours for the valley in one direction, and longer if you return or continue towards Ojców. The path can be muddy after rain; a stroller will not work on the whole route.
