Wierzchowska Górna Cave

Wierzchowska Górna Cave is located in Wierzchowie, in the upper Kluczwoda Valley, outside Ojców National Park. It is a natural monument and one of the most interesting visitor caves in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The cave has about 1,000 metres of passages, with roughly 700 metres included in the tourist route.

Route and exhibits

Visits are guided only and follow electrically lit passages for about 50 minutes. Along the way you can see karst features, places associated with discoveries of Pleistocene animal bones and displays explaining the cave’s history. The temperature is around 7.8°C and humidity is high.

2026 opening information

The official website lists April weekend visits from 11 April, 10:00–16:00. From May to August the cave is open 10:00–17:00, and in September and October 10:00–16:00. Visits in January, February, March and November require advance booking; organised groups can arrange additional times. Individual visitors enter on the full hour.

Practical advice

It is cool and slippery inside, so bring an extra layer and comfortable sports shoes. The route is not accessible to visitors with mobility disabilities. Check current hours, booking rules and prices on the operator’s website before travelling. You can combine the visit with a walk through the Kluczwoda Valley and other Jura attractions.
