Holy Trinity Church in Korfantów

In the northern part of Korfantów, on a low hill, stands the Holy Trinity church — usually the first building a visitor to the town sees. The oldest part of the church can be recognised by its granite portal; its appearance suggests the church may have been built as early as the end of the 13th century, and the first confirmed mention comes from 1335.

From one nave to three

Originally a single-naved church, over time it gained chapels and the tombs of the owners of nearby estates. In the mid-18th century the tower took on its Baroque character. The greatest change came in 1909: the old tower was kept, and a spacious three-naved church was added to it, giving the building its present, imposing proportions.

Monuments nearby

At 3 Opolska street, on the edge of the old town, the church combines well with further sightseeing: not far away stands the former castle from the 17th century, today the seat of the Opole Rehabilitation Centre.

In practice

20–30 minutes is enough for a visit; the church lies by the road entering the town, so it is easy to include it in a tour of the Korfantów commune — the churches of Ścinawa Nyska and the arboretum in Lipno wait nearby.
