Niemodlin Gate in Lipno

The Niemodlin Gate in Lipno, also called the Black Gate, is a neo-Gothic gate made of red brick. It is a remnant of a former game preserve — a fenced park and hunting area connected with the owners of Niemodlin. It was one of five gates leading into the preserve and is now its clearest surviving material trace.

Where to find it

The gate stands in the Lipno Landscape and Nature Complex, between the forest edge and the fence of the swimming pool, to the right of the park house. Look for the red-brick structure and the passage towards the former preserve. It works best as one stop on a walk through the park rather than as a stand-alone attraction requiring a long visit.

What to combine with the walk

The nearby Lipno Arboretum contains collections of trees and shrubs together with educational paths. Other remnants of the former park layout, including small chapels and park buildings, can also be found in the area. Check which parts of the arboretum and grounds are currently open, as the gate, park and arboretum may have different access arrangements.

Practical information

The gate is an outdoor monument viewed on site; there is no separate ticket office or confirmed fixed visiting schedule for the gate itself. Viewing it from accessible public space is free, while the arboretum or other facilities may have their own rules and charges. Paths may be wooded and uneven. Do not cross closed fences, enter a damaged structure or assume that every part of the park is accessible; check current local information before travelling.
