Robot Factory, Moszna

On ul. Zamkowa in Moszna, not far from the fairy-tale castle, stand steel giants welded together from car scrap — the largest are 3.5 metres tall and weigh up to 900 kilograms. The Robot Factory (Fabryka Robotów) is a private museum of scrap-metal sculpture where every figure was built by hand by one man, Sebastian Kucharski. The inspiration comes from science fiction films, and the result has won over both visitors and tourism award juries.

History: a hobby that became a museum

Kucharski built his robots out of a passion for fantasy cinema, using car parts and other steel waste destined for recycling. Interest from the media and from people wanting to see the work in person was so great that in 2016 he opened it to visitors. In 2017 the Factory received a distinction from the Opole Regional Tourist Organisation, and in 2024 it won the Polish Tourist Organisation certificate for the best tourism product in Poland, as well as the public-vote certificate. Its creator has also received the honorary badge "For Services to Tourism".

What to see

• Robots of every size — from figures a few centimetres tall to structures several metres high, both finished and still under construction.
• The largest figures, each of which takes the artist about 700 hours to build.
• Recycled details — in the armour and joints you can spot parts of old cars and machines.
• Practical objects made the same way: tables, bookends and steampunk-style USB sticks.
• Film props — according to the museum, you can see the sword used by the Predator in the third film and the power cell that "powered" the Terminator T-800.

Did you know?

All the robots are made by hand, without factory moulds — sculpture, not mass production, which makes the name "Factory" a little tongue-in-cheek. You can often chat with the artist on site and hear how the figures are built. Kucharski also runs a music project, DZIARA, which links his steel art with music and digital tools.

Tripto tip

Opening hours vary by month: in July and August the museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, in May, June and September at weekends, and from October to April on Sundays. On weekdays outside the summer holidays, individual visits must be booked by phone in advance (tel. +48 515 953 394, minimum 4 people). According to the price list on the museum's website, a standard ticket costs PLN 35, a concession PLN 30 and a 2+2 family ticket PLN 120; concessions apply to children over 3, pupils and students up to 26, among others.
