Loreto House in Głogówek

The Loreto House in Głogówek is located inside the Franciscan monastery church at 3 Klasztorna Street. It is a faithful copy of the Holy House of Loreto, connected with devotion to Our Lady of Loreto. The structure was created in the 1630s on the initiative of Count Jerzy III Oppersdorff and forms part of the sanctuary. It is not a freestanding building with a separate entrance.

Casa Santa inside the church

The house stands in the northern transept of the monastery church, creating a distinctive “church within a church”. Inside is a chapel with an altar and a statue of Our Lady of Loreto. It remains primarily a place of prayer and pilgrimage, so keep quiet and respect services during your visit.

History of the sanctuary

The Loreto devotion reached Głogówek in the 17th century, and the Franciscans made the site an important religious destination in the region. Monastery records state that in 1644 Jerzy III Oppersdorff handed the house to the Franciscans and provided liturgical furnishings. The chapel retains a form inspired by its Italian model and is one of the most valuable elements of the monastery complex.

The sanctuary is at 3 Klasztorna Street, 48-250 Głogówek. The official website says that visits are possible after contacting the custodian in advance; Mass times are not sightseeing hours. You can combine the house with the church, market square and Oppersdorff Castle.
