Parkowa Hill in Krynica-Zdrój and its Funicular

Parkowa Hill in Krynica-Zdrój rises directly above the spa promenade. The summit is about 741–742 m above sea level, and the first funicular railway in Poland, opened in 1937, runs to the top. Its route is 642 m long and retains its pre-war character, making the ride part of the attraction.

Funicular and spa park

The lower station is beside the promenade, so the ride is easy to combine with a walk through Krynica’s centre. Two cars run on a single track and pass on a passing loop. The railway crosses the historic 19th-century Spa Park, whose paths and gazebos create a calm setting for the outing. Seasonal attractions, food and recreation facilities operate at the upper station; availability depends on the current offer.

Views and walking

From Parkowa Hill you can look over Krynica-Zdrój and the Sącz and Low Beskids; the Tatras appear in clear conditions. Marked walking paths also reach the summit, so the funicular is not the only option. Check a current map if you want a longer walk on the slopes or plan to connect the visit with other spa routes.

Practical information

The funicular requires a ticket, and its prices and operating hours can change seasonally, during technical inspections or in bad weather. Check the current PKL timetable and price list before travelling. Comfortable footwear is useful for walking in the park; around the upper station, use marked facilities and respect temporary closures.
