Nature
Tylicz, Lesser Poland
Tylicz sits on deposits of naturally carbonated mineral water, and you can taste several springs for free, straight from the pipe. The best known is Bradowiec, called the Spring of Love – a wooden gazebo by a stream on the road to Powroźnik. A few hundred metres further is the Syhowne spring, and in the village centre the Tyliczanka pump room stands in the Spa Park.
The Tylicz area has springs and boreholes of carbonated water as well as natural carbon dioxide vents known as mofettes. The oldest known source is Tyliczanka, or the Main Spring, recorded in the town book in 1753. Locals long called it "Szczawa" (sour water), and merchants' caravans travelling from Hungary to Sącz and Kraków used to stop here. Today it stands in the Spa Park by the Muszynka river, housed in a wooden pump room.
Bring your own cup or bottle. Around the springs you will see rust-coloured deposits typical of the local carbonated waters. Bradowiec and Syhowne are on the road to Powroźnik and the Tylicz Ski Station, so they are easy to visit on the way; an hour's walk covers both.
