Krynica-Zdrój
On top of the Słotwiny Arena ski area in Krynica-Zdrój stands a 49.5-metre wooden tower, reached by a boardwalk of more than a kilometre through the crowns of beech, fir and spruce. The operator calls it Poland's first treetop observation tower with a wooden structure and the tallest wooden observation tower designed by Polish engineers. It opened on 19 August 2019 and is open all year.
The boardwalk is 1,030 m long in total and climbs gently through the forest of the Jaworzyna Krynicka range, supported by 18 support towers and 87 posts. According to the operator, a two-level path was used for the first time in Europe at two points along the way. The whole structure is built of black locust (robinia) wood, which combines strength with good looks. The top of Słotwiny is 896 m above sea level, so on a clear day you can see the surrounding ranges of the Sądecki Beskids.
Along the way there are 15 interactive installations and boards about the nature and culture of the Krynica area. They cover the animals of the local forests, figures from Slavic mythology, the history of the Lemkos and local wooden architecture, as well as the Professor Henryk Świdziński mofette – a protected natural monument. Children follow the character Jasiek on his search for a mysterious "inkluz".
Construction began in 2017. At the foot of the tower there is a brine graduation tower, and the operator holds summer concerts under the tower – in 2026 themed "Romeo and Juliet". There is also a restaurant and a grill below the tower.
