The Town Hall Tower in Żnin

The “Tower” in Żnin is the common name for the Gothic Town Hall Tower at 1 Wolności Square. It is one of the town’s most distinctive landmarks and a branch of the Pałuki Land Museum. The visit is museum-based: you enter the historic tower, see its displays and learn about Żnin and the Pałuki region.

Town hall, archive and watchtower

The tower was built in the 15th century as part of a brick town hall. Its roles included representing the authorities, storing municipal documents and observing the town. The Gothic structure retains several levels and a platform with crenellated walling. Rather than treating it only as a viewpoint, notice how the building reflects medieval administration and public safety.

Pałuki Land Museum displays

The tower recreates a former armoury, the Town Bench where councillors met, and a treasury with a scale. Higher up, visitors can see a historic clock mechanism. A reconstructed fogler stands in front of the tower. The displays tell the story of the town and its residents.

Hours, tickets and itinerary

The official tower page lists May–September hours as Tuesday–Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm and Saturday–Sunday 10:00 am–3:00 pm; the ticket office closes at 3:30 pm and 2:30 pm. The museum price list shows PLN 12 regular, PLN 10 reduced, PLN 5 for one exhibition and PLN 60 for a Polish-speaking guide. The museum is closed on Mondays.
