Silesian Flavours Culinary Trail

A culinary route run by the Silesian Tourist Organisation since 2012, promoting the food heritage of the Silesian voivodeship. In 2013 it received the Polish Tourist Organisation Certificate as the best Polish tourism product. Twenty-eight venues form the trail, from breweries to regional inns.

What to eat along the route

The basis are dishes from old recipes: beef roulade with Silesian dumplings and red cabbage, wodzionka bread soup, hekele, gałuszki dumplings, gęsie pipki and kućmok. Czech, Austrian, German and Jewish influences are heard in the region's cuisine, and alongside classic Silesian cooking the trail also covers the flavours of the Jura, Zagłębie and the Beskids.

Where to sit down

The venues are scattered across Częstochowa (Browar Czenstochovia), Pszczyna (Frykówka on the market square), Jankowice, Bielsko-Biała (Karczma Rogata), Jeleśnia, Racibórz and Tychy, as well as Mysłowice, Mikołów, Zawiercie, Rybnik and Cieszyn.

In practice

The trail is car-based; it is best to pick one region and combine tasting with sightseeing, for example Pszczyna with its castle or Tychy with the brewery museum.
