Kapias Gardens in Goczałkowice-Zdrój

On Zimowa Street 24 in the spa town of Goczałkowice-Zdrój operate the Kapias Gardens — display gardens created over a dozen years ago from bare ground, out of the plant passion of the owners of a local horticultural business. The layout splits into the New Gardens next to the garden centre and the Old Gardens a short distance away; together they form 16 themed zones, including a green maze, ponds with footbridges, fountains and a birch grove.

A world of gardens in one place

The Scandinavian garden here borders the English, Japanese and Romantic ones, while separate corners include an Italian patio, a Mediterranean nook, a Sensory Garden and a Garden of Silence. The seasons have their own gardens too: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter; the Secret Garden and the Shady Hill hide away from the main avenues. Children get a playground, a small beach and a hobbit house under an overgrown roof, adults — a restaurant and café on site.

Free of charge all year round

Entry to the gardens is free, and the whole complex — restaurant included — is open daily 10:00–19:00. Two free car parks, by the Old Gardens and at the entrance to the New Gardens, fill up on warm weekends, so it is worth arriving early. While there, you can also visit the garden centre and its shop. Within a few kilometres wait Lake Goczałkowickie (1.7 km) and the castle in Pszczyna (3.5 km).
