Spa Park in Goczałkowice-Zdrój

Goczałkowice-Zdrój is one of the few villages in Poland with full spa status, and its spa park, laid out at the beginning of the 20th century, forms the green axis of the village by the Goczałkowice Reservoir. Healing traditions go back to the mid-19th century, when the first bathhouse, water drinking hall, spa house and guesthouse appeared here. In 1932 the suffix „Zdrój" officially entered the village name.

The heart of the park is the Old Pump House of 1862 with timber-framed construction — the oldest building in the resort. It was once decorated with pearl inlays, and inside stood a marble pool on stone plinths. Today it offers five medicinal waters: Józef, Jan, Stefan, Helena and Józefina, used among others for respiratory and nervous system ailments.

What to see

After the revitalisation of 2010–2015, worth around PLN 2.5 million, the park gained new small architecture: openwork gazebos, a sundial, chess tables, an outdoor gym and a sodium-magnesium brine graduation tower. By the historic wooden Zdrojowa Restaurant stands a fountain from whose fish-mouths water spurts. The wide promenade along Uzdrowiskowa Street leads through the park to the Maciek pond.

Practical information

The park is open around the clock all year round, and entry is free of charge, as are the car parks by Uzdrowiskowa and Parkowa streets. From the promenade you can walk to all the sanatoriums, which visitors with limited mobility appreciate. The resort specialises in orthopaedic, neurological and rheumatic conditions.
