Pszczyna Village Homestead Open-Air Museum

In the Manor Park, an extension of the Pszczyna castle park, stand more than a dozen wooden buildings forming the Pszczyna Village Homestead. Created in 1975 on almost two hectares, the open-air museum gathers the most valuable timber architecture monuments of the Pszczyna land and is an important stop on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesian Voivodeship.

The oldest monuments

The oldest building is the manor granary from Czechowice, dating to 1784. A rare sight on a national scale is the octagonal barn from Kryry, while the cottage from Grzawa, built in 1831, recalls the first decades of the 19th century; next to it stands a smithy from Goczałkowice. After an expansion in 2013, the museum gained a replica water mill, a service building with a ticket office and souvenir shop, and a gazebo by the pond.

Interiors and surroundings

Inside the cottages await authentic furnishings of old rural homes: furniture, vessels, machines and folk costumes. Right next to the museum operates the 19th-century Stary Młyn inn serving regional cuisine, and during a visit you can taste honey and talk to a beekeeper. The whole site is set in almost forest-like park greenery, so walking between the buildings feels like a trip to a former village.

Practical information

The homestead lies at ul. Parkowa in the centre of Pszczyna. A regular ticket costs PLN 18, a concession ticket PLN 15, a family ticket PLN 54, and children under 4 enter free. The grounds are pram-accessible, with free parking. From April to August the buildings stay open longest: until 18:00 on weekdays and 19:00 at weekends.
