Zoo Safari Borysew

White Bengal tigers that swim in their own pool, and white lions – these are what made Zoo Safari Borysew famous, a family-run zoo near Poddębice in central Poland's Łódź region. It started in 2008 with 15 hectares and 30 species; today it covers 25 ha, and the zoo says it is home to almost a thousand animals from six continents. It makes a full day out with children, with public feedings and a little train running between the enclosures.

History: from a small safari park to a zoo

The zoo opened in August 2008. That same year it saw the birth of Poland's first Poitou donkey. White Bengal tigers arrived in 2009 and white African lions in 2011; reticulated giraffes, servals and pumas followed in later years. The park gained official zoo status in 2011, and in 2017 it received the Polish Tourism Organisation's certificate for the best tourist product. The collection keeps growing – Angolan colobus monkeys moved in during October 2026.

What to see

• White tigers and white lions – the zoo says it holds around 15% of the world's population of these colour variants; the tigers have a pool and are happy to use it.
• Dawid the grey seal and the otters – among the most popular feeding sessions.
• The Exotarium with an aviary, a mini zoo, and enclosures with capybaras, kangaroos, camels, emus and zebras.
• The ZOOkolejka train taking visitors around the grounds, a 7D cinema, the ZOOlandia playground, an indoor play area and a picnic field.

Public feedings

This is the best time to see the animals active. The zoo's published schedule includes tapirs at 11:00, tigers at 11:30, lions at 11:45, the seal at 12:00 and 14:00, meerkats at 14:15 and otters at 15:30; the lemurs are fed only at weekends. Times can change, so check the current plan on the morning of your visit and build your route around the feedings you most want to see.
