Zoo Safari Borysew

Near Poddębice, in the western part of the Łódź region, about 500 animals representing 90 species from five continents live on 25 hectares. Zoo Safari Borysew is known above all for its white lions and white Bengal tigers, which most Polish zoos do not keep.

From savanna to a licensed zoo

The zoo was founded in August 2008 by Andrzej Pabich, at first as the Savanna on the Ner river with 30 species on 15 hectares. White Bengal tigers arrived in 2009, and in 2011 Sahim joined the tiger Aron — the first white lion in Poland. That same year the facility received its official zoo licence and an award for the best tourist product of the Łódź region, followed in 2017 by a certificate from the Polish Tourist Organisation. The park also saw the birth of the first Poitou donkey in Poland.

What to see

A small safari train carrying 50 passengers runs between the enclosures. There is a petting zoo with goats, sheep and rabbits, a 7D cinema, and the Water World — an artificial island with wooden terraces home to pelicans, more than 40 species of ducks and geese, koi carp and alligators. A regular favourite is Dawid, a grey seal presented during feeding shows.

Practical information

Feeding times are fixed and published on the zoo website, so plan your visit around them — that is when the animals are most active. Food outlets and an indoor play area are on site. Take road 72 from Łódź or Uniejów, not far from the A2 motorway.
