Uniejów Thermal Baths

In Uniejów, a small town on the Warta river in the Łódź region, operates a thermal complex fed by brine extracted from a depth of about 2 km — at the source it reaches nearly 70°C, while the pools keep it above 30°C. In 2012 Uniejów was granted the status of a health resort as the youngest of the 45 spas in Poland.

Indoor and outdoor pools

The first complex opened here in 2008; it consists of the pool section, gastronomy and a knightly castellum. On 26 May 2012 a building with indoor and outdoor pools and a wellness zone was added. Outside awaits a wild river, brine pools, a jacuzzi island and slides; inside there is a sauna zone with massage rooms, a hot brine pool, an ice pool and a snow chamber. The youngest guests have a wading pool just 30 centimetres deep. The medicinal waters with sulphur, radon, fluorine and chlorides became the basis of the spa status.

A town between the castle and the river

The baths stand on the left bank of the Warta; the market square lies across the river, connected by a footbridge. It is worth crossing to the other side: the castle of the archbishops of Gniezno, raised in the 14th century, now serves as a hotel, and its tower can be visited. The town counts around 3,000 inhabitants, so everything lies within walking distance.

In practice

The complex at Zamkowa 3/5 is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00. A standard ticket costs PLN 19-56, a reduced one PLN 17-51, depending on the day and the length of stay; children up to seven enter free of charge. The car park is free, and time spent in the restaurant or bar is deducted from the purchased pool time.
