Observation Tower on Koziarz

Koziarz (943 m above sea level) lies on the main ridge of the Radziejowa Range in the Sącz Beskids, at the junction with the Gorce. In 2015 an observation tower was built here, opening up views above the tree line of the summit. It is one of four towers erected in the municipality of Ochotnica Dolna, alongside the structures on Gorc, Lubań and Magurki.

The summit lies in the Poprad Landscape Park and is densely wooded, which is why it remained little visited before the tower was built. From the platform you can now see the Gorce and the Pieniny, and in clear weather the majestic Tatras. The open space of the ridge between Koziarz and Jaworzynka additionally broadens the views towards the eastern side of the range.

Trails to the tower

The most popular ascents are the yellow trail from Łącko, about 3 hours 10 minutes, and the same route from Szczawnica, about 4 hours 25 minutes. From Tylmanowa a green trail leads to Jaworzynka, from where the yellow trail continues to Koziarz. From Krościenko nad Dunajcem the red trail via Dzwonkówka takes about 4 hours.

Quick approach from Brzyny

For families with children a convenient option is to drive through the village of Brzyna almost to the summit. From the car park by the signpost, the tower is about a 20-minute walk up a narrow path. Admission is free and the tower is accessible all year round, around the clock.
