Promenade in Szczawnica

The resort promenade of Szczawnica leads along the Grajcarek stream, on regulated banks on both sides of the water. It is about 1,800 metres long and is sometimes called the longest boardwalk in Poland — yet it remains wide and calm enough that a stroll never turns into pushing through a crowd.

From Palenica towards the Dunajec

The promenade starts below the lower station of the Palenica cable car and connects with a foot-and-cycle path running along the Dunajec towards Slovakia. In practice this means one continuous walking route from the heart of the resort almost to the border, with views of the Pieniny along the way.

Bridges, pergolas and the sound of water

Along the boardwalk stand benches and pieces of small architecture: openwork pergolas, decorative palisades and flowerbeds with well-kept plants. Footbridges cross the Grajcarek, including the Lovers’ Bridge, one of the favourite photo spots. In the evening the promenade is lit, and the sound of flowing water accompanies you the whole time.

In practice

Access is free, around the clock and all year round. Practically the entire route runs on flat ground, which will be appreciated by spa guests with joint problems and parents with prams. Public and private car parks in Szczawnica are paid, and the Pieniny attractions are close: Sokolica is 2.5 km away and Trzy Korony 4.5 km.
