Koziarz in the Sącz Beskids

Koziarz (943 m above sea level) lies on the main ridge of the Radziejowa Range in the Sącz Beskids, in its western part, between Jaworzynka (936 m) and Suchy Groń (855 m). The summit itself is wooded, but since 2015 it has carried a viewing tower — with fully enclosed stairs and a viewing deck that can be climbed even by visitors afraid of heights.

From the deck you can see the Gorce, the Pieniny and the Tatra Mountains, and the hiking trail traverses the eastern side of the massif among fields and meadows, so views accompany hikers for most of the route. On the ridge between Jaworzynka and Koziarz lie the hamlets of Obidza, their buildings set among open ground. The whole area lies within the Poprad Landscape Park, established in 1987.

Trails

Koziarz lies on the yellow trail from Łącko (3 h 10 min), which continues over Dzwonkówka to Szczawnica (4 h 25 min); from the Tylmanowa side, the ascent via the green trail to Przełęcz pod Koziarzem takes 2 h 20 min. The quickest option is the road from the village of Brzyny, which brings you almost to the summit — the last stretch takes about 20 minutes on foot, a variant popular with families with children. The tower is open all year round, around the clock, and the car park is free.
