Trzy Kopce Wiślańskie

The name has nothing to do with the shape of the mountain. On its western summit the boundaries of three communities meet – Wisła, Ustroń and Brenna – and the shepherds and settlers of old marked them with mounds of piled stones ("kopce"). Today three large commemorative boulders lie on the spot, and Trzy Kopce Wiślańskie (810 m), "the Three Mounds of Wisła", is one of the busiest trail junctions in the Równica range, with scenic meadows and the "Telesforówka" mountain hut just below the top.

A summit where three municipalities meet

Trzy Kopce Wiślańskie is a twin-peaked mountain in the Równica range of the Silesian Beskids, between Gościejów and Zakrzosek. The eastern summit is higher (810 m), the western one lower (about 803 m) – that is where the boundaries meet and the trails cross. Boundaries were once also marked with notches cut into tree bark, known locally as "zakrzosy". The word "Wiślańskie" was added to distinguish the mountain from other peaks called Trzy Kopce in the Beskids. On pre-war maps and in old guidebooks the summit appeared as Malinka, with a height of 809 m. To the north, scenic meadows with the tiny hamlet of Nowa Łąka drop away below the summit.

• from Wisła Uzdrowisko (railway station) – about 1 hour; the yellow trail continues to Salmopolska Pass (12 km in total, about 2 hours 45 minutes),
• from Wisła Gościejów via Gościejów – about 1.5 hours,
• from Ustroń Dobka via Zakrzosek – about 1 hour 10 minutes,
• to Równica via Orłowa – about 2.5 hours,
• to Brenna Centrum via Leśnica – about 3 hours.

Tripto tip

The shortest and easiest ascent is from Wisła Uzdrowisko – you can arrive by train, walk up, eat at "Telesforówka" and be back within half a day. More rewarding is the ridge traverse: from Wisła to Trzy Kopce, then along the ridge via Orłowa to Równica and down to Ustroń, which takes a full day. The best views are from the meadows on the north side, so walk a little way below the top. The weather in the Silesian Beskids can change several times a day, so pack a rain jacket even on a sunny morning.
