Fairy Tale Garden in the Silesian Beskids

On the slope of Grabowa in Brenna, along the black trail from the village centre, lies the Fairy Tale Garden — an open-air gallery of wooden sculptures belonging to the Chata Grabowa mountain hut. The paths are organised by a division into four elements: fire, air, water and earth, and the sculptures recreate figures from Slavic legends and demonology passed down orally in this region.

A pantheon in a forest clearing

Among the figures stand Swaróg, Raróg and Radogost as well as the four-headed Światowid; nearby are Dziewanna and Kupała. From the world of demons emerge Południca, Domowoj, Dworowoj, Skarbnik, Utopiec and Płanetnik, while three rusalkas bathe by the water. The garden owes its name to the sculptures themselves — fairy-tale characters that settled among the grass and trees.

Practical notes

Entry is free; the garden is open Tuesday to Sunday 9:00–17:00, Mondays are closed. By the hut there is a playground and a restaurant with a terrace and a panorama of the Beskids, so lunch combines easily with a walk. Nearby lie Skrzyczne (6.1 km) and the viewing tower on Stary Groń; the black trail leads from Brenna straight to the garden.
