Dziewięćsił Festival of the Beskids and Cieszyn Silesia

The Dziewięćsił Festival of the Beskids and Cieszyn Silesia combines culture, music, nature and local traditions. It takes place across nine towns: Bielsko-Biała, Brenna, Cieszyn, Cięcina, Istebna, Szczyrk, Ustroń, Wisła and Żywiec. The festival spreads across mountain, town and cultural venues.

What makes it distinctive

The name refers to the stemless carline thistle, a plant from highland stories and a symbol of strength. This idea connects the programme’s different strands: regional stories, crafts, music, food, nature and meetings with local creators. Each town prepares its own version, so the festival presents the Beskids and Cieszyn Silesia from several perspectives.

Programme and choosing a location

Depending on the edition, the programme may include concerts, craft and regional-cooking workshops, walks, mountain excursions, outdoor games, exhibitions and family activities. Some events take place outdoors, while others use museums, cultural centres, peaks or mountain clearings. Do not try to visit all nine locations in one day.
