Mountains & peaks
The Central Sports Centre – Olympic Preparation Centre in Szczyrk is a training complex at 8 Plażowa Street. Some facilities are available to individual visitors. It is not one attraction with one ticket: choose a facility before visiting — cable car, swimming pool, courts, pitches or a sporting event.
The best-known part of COS is the ski centre on Skrzyczne, the 1,257-metre summit of the Silesian Beskids. In winter, lifts and runs operate here, including the black FIS run; the cable car reaches towards the summit in stages. In summer, mountain facilities may follow a separate timetable affected by weather and season. COS also includes the Skalite ski-jump complex, but not every area is permanently open to tourists.
Individual visitors can use the indoor pool with a 25-metre basin, shallow lane and jacuzzi when available. COS also offers sports halls, tennis courts and beach-volleyball courts; some facilities require a booking. It is useful on an active day when mountain weather is poor.
The centre is at 8 Plażowa Street in Szczyrk. Prices, hours and access rules differ between facilities. Check the official website for closures, competitions and limited availability, and book if required. For Skrzyczne, bring clothing suitable for conditions at altitude; tickets and transport are separate.
