The Żylica Promenade is Szczyrk’s main pedestrian and cycling route. It follows the river through the town centre and is a good choice for a relaxed walk, a bike ride or family time away from the busy Beskidzka Street. It is not a gated park or a paid attraction, but an open public path used by residents and visitors throughout the year.
The main section starts by the Town Hall, crosses St James Square and follows the Żylica past the Skalite Amphitheatre, Skalite ski jump and Central Sports Centre. It then continues towards Buczkowice, where it connects with a cycling route leading on to Rybarzowice. The town’s official guide gives roughly 20 km there and back, so you can choose a short riverside walk or a longer outing.
The route is flat with an even surface, making it suitable for families, cyclists, roller skaters, scooter users and Nordic walking. In summer, early morning or evening is usually the most comfortable time for a quieter walk. When conditions allow, the promenade can also serve as a cross-country skiing route in winter, although preparation depends on the weather.
The promenade is free and has no opening hours. The easiest access points are in the centre, by the Town Hall or St James Square. For a longer outing, plan a return route or continue towards Buczkowice; services and traffic levels vary along the way. Check a local map before travelling if you need a specific car park, bus stop or connection with a mountain trail.
