Klimczok (1117 m)

Klimczok (1117 m) is one of the most popular summits in the Silesian Beskids, between Bielsko-Biała and Szczyrk. The usual approach follows the ridge from Szyndzielnia via the pass below Klimczok, while other routes climb from Szczyrk and the Biała valley. The hike combines gentle ridge sections, forest paths and views towards the Żywiec Beskids and the Tatras in good weather.

Trails to the summit

From Szyndzielnia to the pass below Klimczok takes about 30 minutes, followed by another several minutes to the summit. A popular route from Szczyrk Centrum via Podmagura takes around 1 hour 45 minutes; the route from Wapienica via Szyndzielnia is longer and takes about 2 hours to the summit area. Times depend on pace, conditions and the chosen trail.

Views and local lore

The mountain’s name is linked to the legend of the brigand Klimczok; it was formerly called Goryczna Skałka. The Klimczok PTTK mountain hut stands near the pass, on trails between Magura, Szyndzielnia, Błatnia and Szczyrk. Open ridge sections offer views of Babia Góra and the ranges of the Żywiec Beskids.

Practical information

This is a mountain hike rather than a town walk: trails can be muddy after rain, while winter requires extra preparation and a check of conditions. Wear hiking shoes, carry water and do not base the plan only on the summit panorama, as trees limit the view. Check GOPR alerts and the hut’s current operating arrangements before setting out.
