At the foot of the ruins of Ogrodzieniec Castle in Podzamcze, on the slopes of Góra Zamkowa — the highest hill of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland (515.5 m above sea level) — the River Splash luge track has been operating since 2014. It is part of Park Ogrodzieniec, an entertainment complex laid out around the 14th-15th-century stronghold of the Włodkowie Sulimczyk family, situated on the Trail of the Eagles' Nests.
The track is profiled and open all year round, and the speed of the cart is controlled by the rider, which is why the ride is considered safe even at maximum speed. The route offers bends and narrows, and after the next arch a view of the castle ruins on the hill opens up. Riders of all ages are welcome — children under seven ride in the cart with a guardian.
A single ride costs PLN 6, and a ten-ride pass PLN 40. The ticket offices open at 9:00, and the closing hour depends on the month — from 16:00 to 20:00. The track stands at Zamkowa Street in Podzamcze, a few minutes on foot from the castle and the car parks of Park Ogrodzieniec.
After the rides there are still the Physics Experiments Park, the Miniatures Park, the Amusement Park and the House of Legends and Fears, so a family trip to the Upland will easily fill the whole day. Within a dozen or so kilometres you will also find the Błędów Desert and more Eagles' Nests castles — Bobolice, Mirów and Rabsztyn.
