Ogrodzieniec Miniature Park

The Miniature Park in Podzamcze (Ogrodzieniec municipality) lies at the foot of the Ogrodzieniec Castle ruins and shows the entire Trail of the Eagles' Nests at a scale of 1:25 – from Kraków to Częstochowa. The models of the Jurassic castles are set in a landscape with recreated valleys, canyons and rock walls, and next to them stand full-size replicas of medieval siege engines. A good complement to a visit to the real ruins, especially with children.

The park displays models of 16 castles and strongholds of the Jura, with a model of Jasna Góra at its centre. They include:

• Ogrodzieniec, Olsztyn, Mirów, Bobolice and Smoleń,
• Pilica, Rabsztyn, Bydlin and Bąkowiec,
• Siewierz and Będzin,
• Pieskowa Skała, Ojców, Tenczyn and Lipowiec,
• the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill.

The creators stress that the models were reproduced faithfully to history, and that months of searching for documentation preceded their construction. Many of these buildings are ruins today, so the park lets you see them complete.

Siege engines and a tank

Next to the models stand 1:1 replicas of siege engines: a catapult, a ballista – a kind of crossbow on wheels – and a trebuchet, a throwing machine resembling a mechanical sling. They illustrate how battles were fought in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. Extra attractions include archery stands and a real T-55 Merida tank with open hatches that you can climb into.

The Miniature Park is one of five attractions in the Park Ogrodzieniec complex, alongside an amusement park for younger children, a Physics Experiments Park with 47 devices, the House of Legends and Fears and a toboggan run. The complex is open seasonally, from April to November.

On weekdays in October the park opens for organised groups by prior arrangement.
