Ogrodzieniec Park

The whole Trail of the Eagles' Nests – the chain of castles from Kraków to Częstochowa – fitted into one garden at a scale of 1:25, complete with valleys, canyons and cliffs topped by castles. That is the signature part of Ogrodzieniec Park in Podzamcze, a family attraction at the foot of the Ogrodzieniec castle ruins. Alongside it are a hands-on physics park, a play park for little ones, the House of Legends and Ghosts and a toboggan run – a good half-day plan after exploring the ruins.

Five attractions in one place

The Miniature Park recreates the castles and strongholds of the Jura outdoors. According to the operator, the models were built to be historically accurate after months of archival research, and the landscape around them was modelled too: steep-sided valleys and sheer rocks. Next to them stand life-size (1:1) replicas of medieval siege engines – a catapult, a ballista (a kind of crossbow on wheels) and a trebuchet – as well as archery stands and a real T-55 Merida tank with open hatches that you can climb into.

The Physics Experience Park has 47 devices showing how the basic laws of physics work – from a flight simulator to tubular bells and a resonance footbridge.

The Play Park is aimed at younger children: there is a bouncy castle and a carousel, among other rides, all fitted into a medieval, knightly setting.

The House of Legends and Ghosts brings local Jura legends indoors: you will meet a black dog, the White Lady, giant bats and sleeping knights. It may be too scary for sensitive preschoolers.

The River Splash toboggan run is a winding track with special carts, set against the castle scenery. It is not part of any package – rides are paid separately.

• Play Park – PLN 10 / 59 / 119 (the adult ticket is for the accompanying carer),
• Physics Experience Park + Play Park – PLN 35 / 69 / 179,
• Package Ticket (four parks, without the toboggan run) – PLN 75 / 70 / 239; annual family package PLN 399,
• toboggan run – PLN 15 per ride, PLN 60 for 5 and PLN 100 for 10 rides.

The "child" ticket also covers pupils and students up to 25, people with disabilities and pensioners. Children under 3 go free, children under 12 must be accompanied by adults, and under-8s may only ride the toboggan run with an adult. Every accompanying adult needs a ticket, including for the run, and animals are not allowed in the park.

Opening hours

• April–June: Mon–Fri 10:00–18:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–20:00,
• July–August: daily 10:00–20:00,
• September–October: Mon–Fri 10:00–16:00 (in October the park opens on weekdays for organised groups), weekends and holidays 10:00–18:00,
• November: weekends and holidays only, 11:00–16:00.

Tripto tip

Allow 3–4 hours for the Package Ticket. The best order is the Ogrodzieniec castle ruins first (separate ticket), then the Miniature Park – children will spot the castle they have just explored. Most attractions are outdoors, so pick a dry day. The park is at ul. Zamkowa 33 in Podzamcze (Ogrodzieniec municipality, Zawiercie county); in the same village you will also find the reconstructed stronghold on Birów Hill.
