Termy Zakopiańskie (Zakopane Thermal Baths)

Termy Zakopiańskie (roughly "TER-mi zah-ko-PYAN-skyeh"), formerly known as Aqua Park Zakopane, is the thermal water park inside Zakopane itself, Poland's best-known mountain resort. It sits on Jagiellońska Street at the foot of Antałówka hill, a short walk from the main Krupówki promenade. Its pools use geothermal water from a well drilled in the 1960s and combine it with classic water-park fun: a lazy river, long tube slides and a climbing wall, plus saunas, a salt cave and a bowling alley.

Where it is

Zakopane lies in southern Poland at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, about 100 km (60 miles) south of Kraków. Trains and buses run from Kraków; by car, winter weekend traffic on the Zakopianka road can be heavy. Since the baths are in town, you can walk there from the center.

A bit of geothermal history

In the 1950s, geologist Stanisław Sokołowski suggested that warm water lay under the Podhale basin. Between 1961 and 1963, the Zakopane IG-1 test well was drilled on Antałówka hill to a depth of 3,073 m (10,083 ft). At 1,540–1,620 m it hit thermal water that rose to the surface on its own: the first documented geothermal source in the region. The water contains calcium, sodium, magnesium and natural sulfur compounds, and the pools are kept at 30–38°C (86–100°F).

Things to do at Termy Zakopiańskie

• a 40 m indoor thermal pool and a 25 m lap pool,
• a 60 m "wild river" and a wave swing with waves up to 70 cm,
• a 33 m outdoor pool at 36–38°C with mountain views, great in the snow,
• a sulfur therapy pool,
• tube slides up to 166.5 m (546 ft) long,
• a "Volcano" climbing wall, a kids' pool and hot tubs.

There is also an adults-only (18+), textile-free sauna zone, a salt cave, a bowling alley, a kids' playroom and a gym. Towels rent for PLN 10, and a 45-minute salt cave session costs PLN 25 (white socks required).

Tickets and opening hours (as of October 2026)

• Pools: daily 9 am–10 pm. Saunas from 2 pm on weekdays and noon on weekends. The bio sauna has been temporarily closed since September 28.
• Low-season prices (including Sept 1–Nov 6 and Nov 16–Dec 18, 2026): PLN 54 for 1 hour, PLN 87 for 2.5 hours, PLN 131 with no time limit. Morning (before 11 am) and evening (after 8 pm) 1.5-hour tickets cost PLN 54. Online prices start at PLN 39.
• Kids aged 3–16 and seniors 60+ pay reduced prices; kids under 3 enter free. Family ticket (2+1, 2.5 hours): PLN 209.
• Winter 2026/27: holiday and ski-season prices follow a separate list that was not yet published.

Is it worth visiting?

Yes, if you are staying in Zakopane and want warm water without a drive. Guests of hotels run by the same operator, Polskie Tatry (such as Antałówka or Hotel Tatry), get free entry. It is ideal on a rainy day or after skiing. Two and a half hours is enough for most visitors.
