Museum of Earth in Kletno

The Museum of Earth in Kletno is a private collection of minerals and fossils assembled by the geologist Arnold Miziołek — a collector's passion that grew into one of the more interesting natural-history attractions of the southern Kłodzko Land. The museum stands in Kletno in the Stronie Śląskie commune, right by the car park from which visitors set out to the Bear Cave.

What to see

The exhibition features specimens from around the world alongside minerals from the nearby ranges: the Śnieżnik Massif and the Bialskie and Złote Mountains. The biggest draw are four fossilised nests with dinosaur eggs from about 70 million years ago, brought from China, plus dinosaur footprint imprints from the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The collection also includes fossils of Permian reptiles from the Nowa Ruda area and traces of life from 250 million years ago.

Jurassic Park and surroundings

Next to the museum lies a Jurassic Park: life-size dinosaur models that children can climb on, and a petrified Permian forest. A visit combines well with trips to Mount Śnieżnik with its viewing tower, the reservoir in Stara Morawa, or Rudawiec and Kowadło, peaks of the Crown of Polish Mountains. Some specimens can be bought on site, and the collection keeps growing.
