Christmas Bauble Museum in Milicz

The Christmas Bauble Museum in Milicz occupies part of the Creative Multifunctional Facility (KOM), built on the site of a former bauble factory. It is one of few institutions in Poland devoted entirely to glass decorations — the collection numbers more than 6,000 pieces, and every bauble is hand-painted and unique.

Baubles, icicles and Mickey Mouse

The baubles hang in colour-coordinated display cases, which makes a strong impression. Alongside the traditional balls and icicles you will see animals and fairy-tale characters as well as unusual designs — for example advertising ones with company logos. The reason is simple: most of the Milicz factory's output was exported, mainly to America, so cartoon favourites such as Mickey Mouse are among the patterns.

More than a museum

KOM works like a modern community centre: it runs workshops for children and adults based on the theory of multiple intelligences, outdoor games and play, concerts and exhibitions. After the visit it is worth stopping at the café known for its desserts.

Practical information

The entrance is at 3 Dąbrowskiego street in Milicz. From May to September the facility is open on weekdays 9.00–15.00 and at weekends 10.00–18.00; from October to December on weekdays 9.00–15.00. Tickets: PLN 11 regular and PLN 8 reduced, children under 3 enter free; the car park is free of charge. It is worth confirming hours and prices before your visit. Milicz lies in the Barycz Valley, so consider extending your trip to the famous Milicz Ponds.
