Butterfly House in Władysławowo

In the port of Władysławowo, on ul. Hryniewieckiego, a tropical microclimate reigns in summer, and hundreds of butterflies from all over the world fly freely among exotic plants. There are no display cases or terrariums – the insects settle on leaves and sometimes on a visitor's shoulder. The largest specimens have a wingspan of almost 30 cm.

What you'll see inside

The operators describe it as the largest butterfly house in Poland; several dozen species of butterflies and moths live here at any time. The species guide lists the blue Morpho peleides, the owl-eyed Caligo idomeneus, Siproeta stelenes and Attacus atlas, one of the largest moths in the world. Numbers change daily as new butterflies keep emerging from their pupae. With caterpillars and pupae on display you can follow the whole transformation, from eggs to adult – and with luck you'll see a butterfly emerge.

Guides included in the ticket

Guides are on duty and, at no extra cost, talk about the butterflies' life cycle, vision and habits; one of the facts you'll hear is that some species can fly at up to 50 km/h. Schools can book educational sessions, and the house can be reserved for photo shoots. It's warm and humid inside, so dress in layers. The floor is paved and level, so wheelchair users can get around without difficulty.

Practical information

The butterfly house is seasonal: in 2026 it was open from 18 May to 20 September, daily 10:00–18:00, and it is now closed until next season. A standard ticket costs PLN 31, a reduced one (children under 18) PLN 27, and under-threes go free. There are also family tickets – 2+1 for PLN 81, 2+2 for PLN 108 and 2+3 for PLN 135 – and group tickets at PLN 24 for groups of 30 or more.

Tripto tips

Allow about 30–45 minutes. It's a good option for a cloudy day at the seaside, since the whole exhibition is under cover and always warm. Don't touch the butterflies – their wing scales are easily damaged. The visit combines easily with a stroll round the fishing port and a trip onto the Hel Peninsula, which begins just outside town.
