Things to do in Kłodzko

Kłodzko is the main town of the Kłodzko Land, set in the Kłodzko Valley on the Nysa Kłodzka River at the foot of the Bardo Mountains. For centuries it guarded the route from Bohemia to Silesia, which is why the mighty Kłodzko Fortress with its extensive tunnels rises above the old town. From the fortress walk down to the market square and then underground: the Underground Tourist Route leads through former merchants' cellars. Be sure to cross the Gothic bridge over the Młynówka, lined with Baroque statues of saints, and visit the Church of the Assumption. With children, Minieuroland with its models of European landmarks is worth a stop, and nearby are the palaces of Kamieniec Ząbkowicki and Gorzanów. One day covers the town, but Kłodzko is a good base for the whole valley and its spas. Take the train from Wrocław to Kłodzko Główne or drive national road 8. May to October is best.
