Ławica Palace and Folwark Szyfrów

On the bank of the Eastern Neisse, a few kilometres from Klodzko, two attractions work as one: an eclectic palace with a five-sided tower, and Folwark Szyfrow (the Cipher Farm) — an interactive museum in the old stone walls of the farm buildings, close in spirit to an escape room, although the hosts assure that nobody locks anyone in.

From castle to the Schöller palace

The beginnings reach the 14th century, when a stone castle stood here. The first mention of the palace comes from 1830, and in the early 19th century the estate passed to the Schöller family; in their time the residence served as a summer seat and steward's house in a property of 400 hectares with a paper mill, a power plant and sheep breeding. Its present shape was given by Rudolph Schöller — the 1886 remodelling has its date on the facade, and from 1905 the owner was Caesar Schöller. Built of stone and brick, the structure combines Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque features, with a risalit crowned by a triangular pediment, a two-storey bay window and a wooden balcony; it was entered in the monument register in 1994.

Folwark Szyfrów

In the former farm buildings each room has its own style, secret and puzzles, and the exhibits are historic — brought here by the people of the Klodzko Land. The most moving is an authentic cattle wagon in which resettlers from the east, among others from Kazakhstan, arrived in 1945; the journey took a month. A faience stove from the 18th century and enormous doors of a similar age have also survived.

In practice

The palace was bought by the organisers of rafting trips on the Eastern Neisse, active since 2009; on site there are apartments, a mini zoo, kayak rental and the Bardolina miniature train. A rafting ticket costs PLN 45, reduced PLN 39. The Klodzko fortress is less than 4 kilometres away and Kamieniec Palace just under 9.
