Manor House in Karniowice

Key information

Karniowice Manor is a late-Baroque, single-storey historic building from the 18th century, at Rycerska Street, about 20 km north-west of Kraków. Its mansard roof, tall porch and octagonal corner alcoves give it the appearance of a Polish noble residence. The manor and park are protected heritage, but the property is privately owned and fenced. Treat it as an exterior viewpoint, not a site with regular interior tours.

Manor, park and chapel

The complex includes the manor, a landscape park, a chapel and former farm buildings. Heritage records note alterations after 1860 and renovation in 1987–1990. The park contains a six-sided Baroque chapel of St Mary Magdalene, dated to 1624 and older than the present manor. As the grounds are fenced, do not assume that the park or chapel is open. From the street you can still see the roof, porch and layout of the residence; respect the owners’ privacy and do not photograph through the fence where this is prohibited.

A Jura walking idea

Karniowice lies between the Kobylańska and Bolechowicka Valleys, making the manor a brief stop on a Kraków Valleys outing. For a longer walk, use marked trails in the nearby valleys, including the route towards Bolechowicka Gate. There is no public ticket price or opening schedule for the manor; any access must be arranged with the owner. No tourist facilities are confirmed on site, so plan parking and the route independently. This place suits visitors interested in architecture and landscape, rather than those looking for an open palace interior.
