Biała Wisełka Valley

Biała Wisełka Valley begins in Wisła Czarne, near Lake Czerniańskie. The Biała Wisełka is one of the streams that form the Vistula headwaters, and its bed creates steps and cascades. The wooded valley below Barania Góra combines an easy waterside walk with more demanding trails in the Silesian Beskids.

A gentle asphalt walk

An asphalt road with a gentle gradient runs through the valley and is closed to car traffic. The Wisła Tourist Organisation gives the walking section as about 2.5 km; it passes through woodland alongside the stream and its cascades. The mild slope makes it one of Wisła’s easier walks, including for families with young children and pushchairs. After rain, watch for wet leaves and slippery ground near the water.

Kaskady Rodła and the Vistula headwaters

The main walking goal is Kaskady Rodła, a series of natural steps on the Biała Wisełka, with the largest drop around 5 m. Higher up is the Barania Góra headwater area, protected as a nature reserve. The blue trail from Wisła Czarne leads through the valley to Barania Góra, the Silesian Beskids’ second-highest peak at 1,220 m. That is a full-day mountain route, not the same as the easy asphalt walk.

Practical information

Leave your car at the paid car park before the valley entrance in Wisła Czarne; cars are prohibited along the valley. The walking road is free to use and the area can be visited year-round. Allow about 1.5 hours one way to reach Kaskady Rodła. Wear sturdy shoes, especially if you plan to approach the cascades. Check signs, weather and parking rules before travelling.
