Cieślar

Cieślar is a quiet, scenic summit in the Silesian Beskids at about 921 metres, located between Soszów and Stożek on the ridge above Wisła. It is not a rocky, isolated peak but a natural stage of a longer mountain walk.

Cieślar on the Beskid ridge

The red Main Beskid Trail crosses the summit and runs here between Soszów, Cieślar and Stożek. In clear weather, the ridge also opens towards the Silesian–Moravian Beskids, the Little Fatra and, in places, the Tatras. The summit itself is gentle and typically Beskid-like; the best views appear on nearby meadows and clearings rather than only at the highest point.

The best approaches

The most useful loop described by the regional tourism service starts in Wisła Dziechcinka, follows the green trail to Soszów, continues on the red Main Beskid Trail over Cieślar, then returns via yellow and blue markings. A shorter option is to approach from Soszów along the red ridge trail towards Stożek and treat Cieślar as part of a longer day hike. The official Main Beskid Trail route lists Soszów, Cieślar, Mały Stożek and Wielki Stożek in sequence, making it easy to combine several summits.

Practical information

Cieślar is a free, outdoors-only summit reached by marked hiking trails; there are no opening hours or ticket office. Near the trail junction you will find resting places and a distinctive stone marked “Góra–Hora Cieślar 920 m”. Check the weather, trail conditions and walking time before setting out; sturdy shoes help after rain, and traction aids may be useful in winter.
