Barania Góra in the Silesian Beskids

Barania Góra reaches 1,220 metres and lies within the town of Wisła in the Silesian Beskids. The massif is known for the Vistula source area, its nature reserve and long trails through mountain forests. It requires several hours.

Vistula sources and Kaskady Rodła

The slopes contain the sources of Biała Wisełka and Czarna Wisełka, but there is no single easy-to-identify “source of the river”. In 2026, a sign was installed by the available blue trail to mark the symbolic source area at about 1,100 metres. In the Biała Wisełka Valley, look for Kaskady Rodła, a series of 16 natural cascades and waterfalls on the stream.

Tower and views

The summit has an approximately 15-metre steel viewing tower with free access. In clear weather you can see the Silesian and Żywiec Beskids, the Tatras and ranges on the Slovak side. The red Main Beskid Trail crosses the summit, with routes also leading via Przysłop, Malinowska Skała and Magurka Wiślańska.

Trails and reserve rules

A popular route from Wisła Czarne via the Biała Wisełka Valley and Barania Góra is about 12 km and takes roughly 4 hours one way, depending on pace. The educational nature trail from the Czarna Wisełka valley to Biała Wisełka is about 16 km and is planned for 8 hours. Inside the reserve, use only the designated green, red and blue educational routes. There is no lift to the summit. Start early, check the weather and leave time for the return; the mountain hut and Tourism Museum at Przysłop are about 45 minutes from the summit.
