The dates of the 2026 Białystok Christmas Market have not been announced yet. In 2025 the market ran from 29 November to 23 December on Kościuszko Market Square (Rynek Kościuszki), around the Baroque town hall, and it was the fourth edition in its current form. It was organised by the Szamto Foundation together with the city, and its signature feature was the City Advent Calendar – a wooden gateway with 24 little doors, one opened every day from 1 December. We'll update this guide as soon as the 2026 dates are published.
Below is what we know from last season: opening hours for the stalls and the food area, things for children, the collectible teddy-bear mugs, the visit of Santa from Rovaniemi, plus practical tips for getting there and exploring central Białystok. For other cities, see our guide to Christmas markets in Poland 2026.

Status as of 16 October 2026. The 2026 dates and hours haven't been announced; the table shows the 2025 season. We'll add new information once it's official.
Białystok's market is built around the town hall – a building that, curiously, never housed the city authorities but was a market hall full of stalls from the start. In December it goes back to its original job. The huts formed a long shopping lane, with an enlarged food area alongside. A brass band played at the opening on 29 November 2025, and the square filled up straight away.
The entrance to the market was a large wooden structure with 24 compartments – the City Advent Calendar. Each window had its own sponsor and hid small surprises and sweets. Windows were opened at 17:00 on weekdays and 15:00 at weekends, starting on 1 December, which gives you a reason to come back more than once.
Four glass pavilions stood on the square. At the Polar Post Office you could write a free card to Santa (five designs in 2025); after the market they were all sent to Rovaniemi. The Elves' Workshop hosted workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions throughout, with the weekly schedule posted on the Białostockie Jarmarki Facebook page. There was also a Santa photo studio and a gingerbread cottage.
New in 2025 were a small Ferris wheel and a Christmas train, alongside the carousels. Big new 3D light displays, more than 200 Christmas trees and thousands of fairy lights completed the picture. On St Nicholas Day, 6 December, Santa from Rovaniemi traditionally visits Białystok: in 2025 shows began at 15:00 and at around 17:00 Santa switched on the lights of the city tree by the Józef Piłsudski monument. From noon, children could even talk to him on the phone.
Białystok's market leans local. Among more than 70 traders were traditional and contemporary crafts, Christmas wreaths, cosmetics and delicacies, many from Podlasie makers – one regular, back for the eighth time, sold his own cheese, juices, syrups and jams, plus woollen socks. For regional flavours look for sękacz (a spit-baked layered cake), potato babka and kartacze (large stuffed potato dumplings). If you collect souvenirs, buy a teddy-bear mug: the official Białystok Christmas Market mugs feature a bear and have become a collector's item.
The organiser didn't publish prices for mulled wine or food, so we don't list them.

The market fills Kościuszko Market Square around the town hall. Branicki Palace, the cathedral and the Orthodox Cathedral of St Nicholas are all a few minutes' walk away.
Gift idea: for a Białystok native living abroad or someone who studied in Podlasie, a Białystok map poster with a heart on the square or by Branicki Palace makes a gift with a story. The print-ready PDF downloads instantly.
If the hours are similar to 2025, the stalls close at 18:00 on weekdays and the food area two hours later. Shop in the early afternoon and come back for mulled wine and the lights after dark, which falls around 15:30 in December. The Advent calendar window opening is the most atmospheric moment (17:00 on weekdays and 15:00 at weekends in 2025). Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest. The market ended on 23 December, with nothing on over Christmas.
Start around 13:00 at Branicki Palace with a walk in the garden – in 2025 an illuminated horse-drawn carriage stood in the palace courtyard. Walk along Kilińskiego Street to the cathedral and on to the square. Browse the market, pop into the Podlasie Museum in the town hall, and after dark stroll down the lit-up Lipowa Street to St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral. In 2025, 93 trees along Lipowa were wrapped in fairy lights and Santa's reindeer and sleigh stood on the street.
Trains from Warsaw usually take about 2 to 2.5 hours, so a day trip is possible, though staying overnight is more relaxed. From the railway station you can walk to the square in about 25 minutes or take a BKM city bus; check times in the Jakdojade app. The bus station is right next to the railway station.
The centre around the square is a paid parking zone, and spaces go fast on December weekends. A shopping-centre car park in the city centre plus a short walk is often the easier option.
With children, aim for the Advent calendar opening and the Polar Post Office – writing a card to Santa is the highlight for many little ones. The square is flat but partly cobbled. We found no rules on dogs; the shopping lane gets tight between the huts, so a weekday is better with a dog.
Stay centrally, near Kościuszko Market Square and Lipowa Street, and you can walk everywhere. Białystok also makes a good base for a winter trip to Supraśl or the Narew valley.
Catholics and Orthodox Christians live side by side in Białystok, so Christmas here comes twice. When the market on the square is packed away, Orthodox parishes are only preparing for their Christmas on 7 January. Come back in early January and you'll see a quieter, very different festive Białystok, with services at St Nicholas Cathedral and the Church of the Holy Spirit.
More ideas: things to do in Białystok. If you're travelling via the capital, combine Białystok with the Warsaw Christmas Market, which runs until 6 January.

We found no ban. The shopping lane gets crowded on weekend evenings, so choose a quieter time with a dog.
