Landmarks
Ulica 7 Kamienic is a historic little street in Częstochowa running right next to the Jasna Góra monastery along the Stanisław Staszic Park. Its name comes from the seven townhouses erected at the beginning of the 19th century, and in house no. 17 the poet Halina Poświatowska was born in 1935.
The name of the street is not a metaphor — it comes from specific townhouses that still stand at numbers 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27. Still in the 19th century, further front buildings were added at numbers 9, 11, 13 and 29. The townhouse at number 15 is listed in the register of monuments.
The best-known association of the street is Halina Poświatowska, the poet born here in 1935. A museum dedicated to her, a branch of the Museum of Częstochowa, operates in the city.
The street is about 600 metres long and leads towards Jasna Góra via Klasztorna Street, so a stroll here combines easily with a visit to the sanctuary. Right next door is the Stanisław Staszic Park, where you can rest in the shade of old trees.
