Tuł (Mount Tuł)

Tuł (621 m above sea level) is a low but remarkably scenic summit in the Cieszyn Foothills, east of Leszna Górna, on the watershed between the Vistula and the Oder. You can approach it from Goleszów or Dzięgielów — an easy, pleasant half-day trip from the Cieszyn area that rewards you with views of Mała Czantoria and Wielka Czantoria.

A prehistoric settlement on the summit

The hill's history reaches far back beyond tourism: as early as the 8th century BC a settlement of the Lusatian culture stood here, discovered by archaeologists in the late 20th century. The summit itself is overgrown with a small grove — a plaque with the name and elevation stands among the trees, and the summit clearing opens up views of Czantoria Mała, then Czantoria Wielka, and more distant Beskid ranges.

The former Pod Tułem mountain hut

On the way, on the north-western slope of the Zagoj hill (512 m), at 560 m above sea level, stands the former PTTK hut Pod Tułem. The building was erected in 1930–1931 by Krisch, a merchant from Cieszyn who lived there until 1945; during the war it hosted Hitler Youth gatherings. In 1946 the object passed to the Cieszyn branch of the PTTK, which set up a tourist station and later a year-round hut. Today a private restaurant with a banquet hall and guest rooms operates here (ul. Turystyczna 17, Cisownica), near the „Zadni Gaj" yew reserve.

Trails and Polana Budzin

No marked trail runs to the very summit — the green trail passes along its slope: from Goleszów (past the former hut) or from Wielka Czantoria; from Ustroń you can climb the yellow trail via Mała Czantoria and continue on green. A convenient starting point is Polana Budzin (596 m) with a free car park and a modern-style shepherd's hut, 1.6 km from the summit. From here you can also head the other way towards Mała and Wielka Czantoria.
