Chabówka railway museum

The Chabówka Rolling Stock Heritage Park is an open-air railway museum with historic locomotives, carriages and railway equipment. It is one of Lesser Poland’s most interesting railway attractions, especially for visitors interested in engineering, transport history and vintage train rides.

The museum’s history

The site dates back to 1991 and officially opened on 11 June 1993. Chabówka is a fitting location: the village lies beside historic railway lines through Lesser Poland, and the museum preserves the infrastructure and traditions connected with maintaining railway stock.

What to see

The collection includes steam locomotives with and without tenders, electric and diesel locomotives, passenger and freight carriages, snowploughs, handcars and specialist railway equipment. Look for the technical facilities too, including railway cranes and water equipment for steam locomotives. Some vehicles are kept in working order and may appear on special trains.

Visiting and vintage trains

The museum is an outdoor attraction, so weather affects the comfort of a visit. Vintage train rides and events with historic rolling-stock displays, including Parowozjada, take place on selected dates. Timetables, exhibition access and ticket arrangements can change, so check the museum’s website before travelling.
