Ski Lifts in the Gorce Mountains

Each winter a dozen or so ski lifts operate on the slopes of the Gorce Mountains, forming a compact complex of family runs around Rabka-Zdrój, Rdzawka and Nowy Targ, all within a quarter of an hour's drive from one another. The main point on the map is the Tobołów chairlift in Rdzawka — 1109 m long — with its upper station on a scenic clearing in a side ridge branching off Obidowiec.

Where to ski

In Rabka-Zdrój itself and its districts, drag lifts run on Maciejowa (200 m) and on Słone — Dolny and Pod Kaplicą, 300 m each. The floodlit Polczakówka slope in Zaryte offers 650 m of intermediate skiing with a groomer and a rental shop. On Tobołów, besides the chairlift, three plate lifts and one tow lift operate. On the Nowy Targ side, the floodlit lifts with snowmaking Długa Polana (450 m) and Zadział (550 m) run, while a short 400 m lift serves the intermediate slope by the PTTK shelter on Turbacz.

Practical information

The lifts are usually open in winter from 9 am to 7 pm; most slopes have groomers, parking and food service, and a ski school works by the Obidowa lifts (470 and 430 m). The runs are rated easy to intermediate, so this is a good area for families and beginners. In summer the slope stays busy: the Tobołów clearing has a snack bar and a board describing the panorama of the surrounding peaks, and the educational trail "Around the Poręba Valley" starts here.
